Chanthaburi - Northern hills | The zoo keeps thousands of fresh water crocodiles and brackish water crocodiles, plus other animals. It is surrounded by tropical fruits garden of rambutan, durian, and many others. From Chanthaburi town drive about 12 km to the north on the highway 3249. 
Wat Khao Sukim
Khao Sukim temple is located around 20 km north of Chanthaburi town, on the highway 3322. The hill-side temple was built in 1966; and is a quiet and tree-shaded place good for meditation. Third and fourth floors of the templehouse a collection of religious items and antiques donated by the public. Adjacent to Wat Khao Sukim is Suan Sadetyat, an extensive fruit plantation growing rambutans and durains. During the fruit season (April to June) it is open to the public. Khao Kitchakut national park Located in Khao Kitchakut sub-district. The park covers a rich, verdant forest land of some 58 square kilometers where many herbal plants are also found. It is rich in wildlife. 
One of the park's attractions is Krathing waterfall. The 13-tiered waterfall is seen just 100 meters
from the headquarters. There are pools some of which are good for a swim.
Other waterfalls in the park include Klong Chang Se waterfall which is 10 km from the headquarters. Three or four hours walk from the headquarters is a hill called Khao Phra Bat where the footprints of the Lord Buddha can be visited. Khao Soi Dao wildlife sanctuary Khao Soi Dao wildlife sanctuary is on the highway 317 (Chanthaburi - Sakaeo route), 70 km to the north of Chantaburi town. The sanctuary contains approximately 495,636 rai (793 square kilometers) of Khao Soi Dao mountains in Pong Nam Ron district and Kaeng Hang Maeo sub-district. The area consists of rigged mountain hills with unspoiled rain forest. The highest peaks are Khao Soi Dao Nua (1203 meters) and Khao Soi Dao Tai (1670 meters). 
It is a good place for walking the nature trails, bird and butterfly watching, and to study nature.
One of the popular attractions is Khao Soi Dao waterfall of Khao Soi Dao Nua hill. This waterfall is said to be the most beautiful one in eastern Thailand. There are 16 levels of falls from the foot of the hill to the origin of the stream near the summit. The most scenic views can be had at level 9 and 10. Border markets in Pong Nam Ron district Currently there are two border markets in Pong Nam Ron, Chong Pakad market and Ban Laem market. Chong Pakad is located 30 km from Pong Nam Ron district town. Ban Laen is located about 46 km from Pong Nam Ron district town. These two markets feature products for daily needs. The border checkpoints are open from 0700 to 1600 Hours. Border pass permission is allowed for local people who live in Pong Nam Ron and Soi Dao districts only. |
