Entering Chanthaburi province Chanthaburi is in the eastern Thailand, on the shores of Gulf of Thailand sea. The province was the place of historical events such as the preparation to repel the occupying Myanmars (Burmese) in the time of King Taksin, The war between French and the Siam, and so on.

For tourists and travelers things to see are the monuments and remains of the past, religious temples, and the quiet sea beaches in the city and coastal areas; the hills, mountains, waterfalls and fast flowing rivers, and wildlife in the northern parts of the province.

It borders with Cambodia on the east and there are a couple of border markets where people trade cross border. Gems and jewellery, and various tropical fruits are the famous products of the province.

Climate
Tropical, generally warm and humid with abundant rainfall. Rainy months are from May to October, followed by a relatively cool period from November till January. February to April are the hot months with the highest temperature around 33ºC in April.

Travel and transport
Excellent network of highways criss cross the country side. Travel to Chanthabury is mainly by road. Bangkok to Chanthaburi city is approximately 245 km.
